The International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024
The central ceremony of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 was held on 1 December 2024 at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Guests of honor included Mr Chris Sun, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare; Ms Susan Chan, the Assistant Commissioner for Rehabilitation; Mr Alex Wong, the Deputy Director of Social Welfare; Mr Fung Pak Yan, the Chairperson of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee; Mr Tim Sypko, the Senior Vice President of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort; Ms Jenny Fung, the President of the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee; Mr Benny Cheung, the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities and the Organizing Committee for International Day of Persons with Disabilities; and Mr Chua Hoi Wai, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Nearly 800 people participated in the joyous celebration.
Besides, the “Free Ride Day” took place on 10 November 2024. On that day, upon presentation of the “Registration Card for People with Disability”, people with disabilities and their companion carers were eligible to enjoy free public transport rides, free admission to the swimming pools and museum amenities under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and free admission to Hong Kong Wetland Park.
